Ageing Love

Over sixty years ago, Ingrid and Bert, my grandparents, got married. It wasn’t a big or flashy wedding but it sealed the love of two individuals who have been side by side ever since. Their love has seen good times and bad times, sickness and health, life and death.

However it has grown stronger as it has aged, more tender – blatant when spending time with them in their house and within their life.

But with ageing love comes ageing, and as my grandparents grow older they not only remain companions but become carers; with Alzheimers threatening to rupture what they have. But whatever happens to this love, I feel privileged to have lived around it and to have been able to capture it.
